“When you leave, take some of the beef stew home with you.”
Merlin swallowed his spoonful of stew and nodded. “Yes, Mum.”
“Are you eating right, Merlin?” Hunith looked concerned. “You're not skipping meals just to save money, are you?”
“Yes, Mum,” Merlin said soothingly. “You know Arthur insists on having three meals a day.”
“Well, I'm glad that boy is taking good care of you.” Hunith reached across the table and squeezed his hand.
Merlin smiled at her.
“You need some meat on that skinny frame of yours. I bet Arthur would love to grab and squeeze—”
“Mum!”
